2012 Update

Well, Well What Can I Say…….
Incredibly today is the Mid Point of January 2012, it seemed only yesterday that we were all looking forward to the Christmas Holidays and for those of us that run Businesses, its only 6 days away from the eternally dreaded 25th of the Month, whereby we have to find the funds to pay the suppliers and employees alike. If there is anything that I can pass on to anybody, that is one part of owning a business that I do not recommend.

What Else Is There To Say…..…
Nobody at the club has shown any interest in the Global Climatic Change and Gents it is happening, In December last year, people in Sweden were still playing soccer at 20h00 at night, Roses and Trees still had their full flowering in Switzerland, Ski Resorts in the Alps had no snow, our South African Rains typically would start around the beginning of September and we would have tremendous Thunderstorms in October. This year the true rains only really started in January and it is causing Flash Floods. The Cape and KZN are experiencing unusually high temperatures and all over the world, there are Tsunamis, Earthquakes, Mudslides and more and more natural disasters as we call them, but in fact they are not natural disasters they are pre-empted by the one and only flaw of a hugely engineered human being, whose eye can process well over 1000 colors in less than a millisecond, that Flaw is an insatiable need to have more and more irrespective of the carnage that it leaves behind. It is called Greed.

Now Greed is something that all the MMCRC members are totally in sync with, however that greed is actually the Need for Speed….Oh So Nice pulling on the Remote Control Throttle Device shouting all the time…Give Me More..Give Me More and that is only interrupted when they have to tap off for the corner or when they get airborne, or hit the Palisade Fence all with Dire Consequences, and then if they did not make the corner, they shout……. This Car Does Not Work On Rubber….Get the Credit Card, To Hell With What We Spent Over Christmas, don’t worry about the Impending School Fees that we need to pay, it is Imperative That I Make The Corner on Full Taps.

Which Brings Me To Another Point…..
Last Year there was all the Yoo Hoo and Ya Hoo about these Red Cars (We All Know What They Are) and suddenly they cannot run on rubber so the Manne all go and buy a Blue Car that was originally a 6.0 Version and now it’s a 6.1 Version, and they say that that car can go around a corner at Full Taps on Rubber Tyres, and pass the Red Car and give it a once off finger all in one swoop.

Now, a 6.0 I have no problem with, but a 6.1 I have a succinct problem with. It reminds me of my software engineers who normally and without any conscience make an error and then release a new version and they say its better, but never telling you what they broke to make it better, so the million dollar question is what was actually wrong with the 6.0. Is that the one that could not go around the corner at Full Taps? Or .1 means that they have fitted Invisible Trainer Wheels on it.

You see that’s how RC works, it’s never the Driver, it’s always the Equipment, but just maybe, the Long Delayed Introduction of Rubber Tyres has made the Transition from Foam to Rubber a bit more complicated. Time Will Tell……

So Who Is Who In The MMCRC Zoo?
Let’s See, the Mod Class will grow now that the 10.5 have been included. Is it sad to see the 10.5 Class go I am not sure, but it makes sense to include it in the Mod Class.

Hiilcoat still remains the Man to beat. Shaun Schutte is another one to beat, and in his own words two weeks ago, and he dropped his voice to a sultry level, drooped his head and through his Blue One Way Wraparound 100 Bucks Glicks Sunglasses, told me that this year he is not going to be Mr. Nice Guy anymore, this year he will scalp heads with a Blunt, Old and Extremely Dirty Rusty Razor Blade. Looking at how he powered his Red 13.5 around the track I think he is right….Even Hillcoat looked up and developed a quick nervous twitch in his right eye.

But, then again I have it on good authority that my very dear friend Igor Rogeirio has both Hillcoat and Schutte’s number on Speedial Number 1 & 2 respectively. Gents be carefull, he will be like a Tick on a Buffalo and he has the necessary skills.

Newcomer Wouter will be another contender in the midfield and gents you call me a Toppie, but this amiable youngster will in time make you all feel like Toppies. Then we should not forget Dimopolous, another very fast driver and it will be great to see him back at the track. Darren, Piet, Gert,  Grant, cnds and then Old Number 22 will also be there, but probably only to cause an obstruction, or maybe not. So it might end up with a B Mains and that would be great.
But for sure, as the last Race of day, it will be a sight to behold………...

13.5 Class will now go to Rubber and most of last year’s runners with a few additions will be joining the fray, but sadly I think Shaun Schutte should already have his name printed on the trophy, that is if Hillcoat stays away, and if he joins that class then it will be anybody’s guess, but again this should be a race of note. Who can forget the Skills of Shaun and Jason, racing around neck and neck in the Tamiya GT Mod Class. There are no other two drivers at the club that have these intricate or exemplary driving skills.

17.5 Class is also on Full Rubber and it should be a very closely contested class and also very fast.

FWD Class….will remain a great class with some close battles but perhaps this year the top 5 places will be more contested than the one way traffic of last year.

Stock Class….If there was a class which will be a Ding Dong Battle, this is going to be it. The changeover to 21.5 will spark a new interest and this one will be hotly contested. Kobus, Darren, Number 22, Pieter, Jayson, The Twins, Wouter, Nathan and the rest can all win a race. This one will come down to consistency and reliability.

Mini will remain the Mini Class.

Limited Class remains the backbone and it’s a fantastic class to watch.

12th Scale has suddenly reared its head and again this one is anybody’s guess and they are great cars to watch on the track. No doubt Darren seems to have his car dialed in and it will be up to the likes of Craig to pull up the Handbrake on Darren.

The Benchmark Times

Gents, there is a Super Smooth Track, you have Blue Cars, you have Superchargers, Turbochargers, Brushless Motors, 6500 Lipos and M11 Radios. No Excuses, Now can you beat Michael Gibson’s 2008 Nats Times.

Modified = 13.977
13.5 = 15.096
12th Scale = 15.297 (Neil Wanwig)

So Pretty Much Said And Done……

Let’s Do The Talking On The Track On Saturday!!!!!!!!!

Cheers

Number 22
